A toughy…

A little Brain Teaser for you to all have a go at… Good Luck. }>

A wet sponge weighs 1kg and is 99% water by weight. Squeeze it so it is only 98% water by weight. How much does it weigh now???

Answer coming later.

RE: A toughy…

Right… answer time! 🙂

Originally, 1% of the total weight is sponge (10g of the total 1000g).

After squeezing, 2% of the total weight is sponge. The sponge its self still only weighs 10g, so the weight of the wet sponge must be 500g. (since 2% of 500g = 10g)

Hope you understood that… if not tell me. 🙂

RE: A toughy…

1 kg = 1000 grams
1% is own weight = 10 grams.
100% water = 990 grams
990 gr. * 0,98 = 970,2 gr.
970,2 + 10 gr. =
980,2 gr When I’m not correct.
But it will certainly be such an stuppid joke 🙁
