This year’s Old Warden Autumn Air Display became a very special one for me, as Peter Holloway was so kind to give me a ride in his Ryan PT-22. As the Dutch used Ryan trainers in WW2, I always had a soft spot for these machines. But when I first saw Peter’s PT-22 perform a couple of years back, I fell in love with the machine’s sleek lines, striking colours and awesome sound. Such a marvellous aircraft! And it’s great to fly in too. Having never flown in a vintage, single-engine aircraft with open cockpit before, I was expecting a bumpy ride, but nothing could be further from the truth. It’s extremely smooth and quite comfy!
Piloted by Paul, I totally enjoyed my flight from the spirited take off to the silky soft landing. Just wonderful!
Peter – and Paul – many, many thanks for an unforgettable flight! 🙂
And of course… the photos!

Super pics. Nice shot of the Hurri, Hind and Gladiator. I rather like the first shot as well.

Mustang comes to life:

Unfortunately during Peter Teichman’s take off in the Mustang my camera broke!!!
Here’s my camera’s very last photograph… 🙁

O well… a good excuse to upgrade to a more serious camera for next year’s airshow season! :p
Overall a great day, despite the evil weather. Great flying everyone, especially the barnstormers, who must have been swimming in their cockpits, and the Chipmunk display; such great photo opportunities! 😎
See ya next year! 🙂
