A Virgin in Glasgow 23-06-2007

A short trip to Gla to see Virgin launch the new service to Orlando. The star of the show was G-VAST and the supporting cast was G-JECP, G-CEDG and
A6-EBA.
Feel free to get ripped in.

Hi Raymy
Was hoing to get fiinshed early , camera in the car , but it wasnt to be , Im glad you got some great shots there , might see you there
check youre PMs

Ren: another nail in the Transatlantic routes coffin for Globey , i know of quite a few prpole who would rather Fly Virgin to Orlando than Globespan , espcially after last Years Fiasco,

Kevin

I worry more and more about Fly Globespan’s atlantic routes. I suspect they should just quit and get on with those successful bucket and spade routes before their reputation ends up in tatters…

Todays flight definitely routed directed in from MCO. It may be that is just because its the first service. The MAN service on a saturday has a completely different flight number. The program has been extended for 2008 to include Easter. Todays flight by media reports was full.

Glad to hear it was full and that it did in fact position in direct, suggesting GLA will need it’s own service aside from MAN.

As I understand it, the Virgin service is a try out, over the school summer holidays and also the October break with a view to a permanent GLA service in the future…? I also thought it would be positioning in from MAN ???

It was announced a year ago, and to be honest, I’d forgotten all about it til I saw these pictures.

Hi Adam,
Thanks for the kind comment, I believe G-VAST is MAN based, not entirely sure of the in and outs of this service as to whether GLA is a stop on the MAN-Orlando route, I know its only operating from GLA for a short time.

Hopefully someone more in the know can help you more.

Well done on getting the first VS 744 on. Great pics 🙂 , just a hint of the “jaggies” along the top of the fuselage on the EK 777.
The VS 744 operated into GLA direct from MCO empty. Its a direct service from GLA-MCO with no collection or drop of at MAN.

Great Pictures mate:

1 Question: Isn’t G-VAST Manchester based? So does it position in from MAN, or does it call in at MAN to refuel or pick up additional passenegers?

Many Thanks

Adam
