Just read an article in FP about the Albemarle’s that were involved in D Day, and I set me thinking, I don’t think there is a complete one in existence, but what sections are about ?
Maybe an opening for reconstruction of this type ?
I know the nose sections were made by the MG factory in Abingdon……….

I know a few bits and pieces have been mentioned before as still being around such as a tail wheel and throttle box etc, but I don’t know if enough survives to encourage a project.
Plus as always it would mean persuading different parties to part with their items to achieve a common goal, and that isn’t easy.

The RAF museum recovered substancial remains from the Cumbria quarry in the early 1980’s. After storing them for a short while they passed them on to the Pennine Air Museum at Bacup. When that went defunct the cockpit frame of an Albemarle was retained by the chairman.

I’m pretty sure there is the cockpit frame somewhere. I saw a picture online but its since disappeared.
There is a quarry somwhere where Albermarle bits were dumped, but contamination means recovery is unlikely.
I am sure there is more out there and it would be interesting to see how much Albermarle remains. I have always liked the look of this aircraft. Its a bit like a Beaufort on steroids.
