A warning to Silver Snapper and GLAsgow

If you continue to use this forum as a medium for your anti GLA and anti EDI bickering I will recommend you both be disconnected forthwith.

I have witnessed this kind of b*ll**** from you both on many a forum and it will NOT be tolerated here any longer.

First and last warning !

I am neutral actually, although your contempt of all things Glaswiegian appears to cloud your judgment.

And by the way, despite what it says at the top right of each post I make, I do not actually come from Glasgow. 😀

Let’s put it to the vote…. if you win, I leave… 😀

We must have neutral moderators….. let the forum judge the judges?

Then we got a monarch and Edinburgh was declared the capital.

And Monarch (bless them) decided to serve both city’s airports in the interests of peace, love and holidaymakers. 😀

Apart from the ones that couldn’t care less like me. And as we all know the capital of Scotland is “S”. 😀

Stenhousemuir? Never! :p

.Glasgow was once thought tobe the capital, but then we got a monarch and Edinburgh was declared the capital. Something that glaswegians have never been able to swallow.

Hey Sandy! It was Dunfermline before Edinburgh! 😀 😀

Before that it was Traprain Law and before that it was Ingliston. (Home of EDI) history repeating?

LOL. You lot are even worse than Lancastrians (me :D) and Yorkshire folk!! 🙂 😉

It stems for centuries of english “occupation”

They set the clans against each other. Spreading rumours and lies, pretendingn to favour one clan over another. They got what they wanted. Clan wars.

Not that we weren’t at each others throats before that.

Posting on internet forums is frought with difficulties.

The written word is so easy to get upset about when the spoken word is far less agressive. People also hide behind the protection of their PCs; very easy to criticise when you don’t know your opponent and you’re not face to face with them.

I urge calm and common sense here. I was a seasoned moderator then administrator for a long time on another site and know just how difficult a job it is to please everyone; the fact is you’re can’t. When everyone realises that and starts respecting the moderators rules; all will be well.

I for one get frustrated when A v B wars start, when E v G wars start. Its very annoying, particularly when the threads weren’t created for that purpose. The only way a smooth forum can be ran is if rules are put in place, and that they are enforced. For this reason, I back Ren on his cause here and I’d urge SS and G to take heed, stop battling and enjoy the forum we have here, within the rules set by the mods/WM.

Its not easy; I’ve lost my rag before (on this subject) and I should know better.

If we all stick to the rules, respect each other’s posts, then I’m sure Ren will not need to post anything like this again.

Nobody argues actually, the very mention of Edinburgh
in some parts of West Scotland is like waving a red flag at a Bull. 😮

Its down to centuries of what best can be described as tribalism..

Some tribes tend to be more civilised than others. 😀

which would probably bore the socks off most Scots. What’s the point in arguing?

Agreed. 100%

Or at the very least, let EDI go from the BAA stranglehold.

Seems the one to ‘escape’ might be Abbotsinch!

I have heard rumours from a credible source that TWO
groups of businesspeople have either prepared, or are
preparing bids.

A more sensible approach would be the ending of BAA’s monopoly and allowing one or other airport to develop it’s own strategies and business.

Your best suggestion yet, one I have long advocated,
let both EDI and GLA compete instead of being in the same
cosy bed together. 🙂

If that seems harsh then, elect another moderator.

I receive the most complaints by PM about the two I addressed the warning at.

Fair enough.

I agree.

But perhaps addressing the thread at Joe and GLAsgow was not the best idea if the intent was to adress ALL.

Just offering an opinion, not accusing you of anything.

I am asking all guilty parties embroiled in this issue to “shut up” not just Silver Snapper. If any of you have read this thread without sucking your thumbs you will have noticed that I am not attempting to play the parochial moderator but addressing the complaints of posters from as far afield as you can imagine, who are sick of reading the same arguments time and time again across a variety of threads.

Silver Snapper appears to have developed something of a persecution complex because of his perceptions of my opinions based upon where I live.

Joe go back to the top of this thread and look who the warning is issued towards. Not just you, have a look.

This forum is for everyone there are plenty of (ruined) Scottish aviation forums where you can continue to sling mud at each other if you wish. I am simply asking you all to keep it away from here if you can’t debate the matter sensibly.

I agree.

.I think tighter moderation needs to be done to make sure any blatant EDI or GLA bashing posted is deleted post haste and not left for further comment.

Consider it done, I’ve given up asking for sensible mature posting.

I think what Joe is getting at is that he doesn’t want to be told to shut up when someone openly makes an anti-EDI comment. He does have the right to retort.
