Hello,
Last week, I visited several airfields to take pics of historic aircraft. I went to Moorsele, Braschaat (open day) and Antwerp (Stampe Fly-in). I met some great people during these visits (and I have pics to prove it/ see further in this tread) To say it in 5 words: I had a great time.
I started at the airfield of Moorsele. This is a tiny airfield and only one person operates vintage aircraft from this field. All other planes are microlights.
Before the start, you have to refuel like in the old days.

And then, his stampe was airborne.

This owner also has a nice Tipsy

And then they left for DX:
They did a short display on the way at the Historic Dockyard at Chatham for the VE Day celebrations…
Lovely sight….

Just a small thing 00-31 is a Jodel (D.9 I think).
If I take a look, I must admit that it does look like a Jodel.
Cheers AW!

Great stuff, Stieglitz. Loved the Spitfire stuff, but the WW1 aircraft were very interesting 🙂

Hi Jochen,
So noticed the trick works? But only when there is a good mix of daylight indoors. In the Aviodrome you can forget this way of shooting. Did you notice that PaulC is showing a lot of Madrid stuff on the forum? Have a look and you know what you can expect. BW Roger

When I left for home after another day at the fly-in, I saw 2 newly restored planes which are owned by the owner who operates the yellow SV4 at moorsele (see top of the page). Both planes should fly again very soon:
Stampe SV4C OO-EFN:

Tipsy Trainer II OO-EOT:

That makes the circle complete!
I wat to thak everybody who helped me to make this week unforgetable for me (you know who you are).
Many thanks!

Also a big formation of Stampe Biplanes was also present this year:

And next to that a few other classics such as this chipmunk:

SORRY ROGER, as you see, some of them are coming! 😉

I returned on Sunday, just to see the departure of the Spitfires which made several nice passes over the field.
Here are some more pics of these machines:

Goodbye!

And then they left for DX:

Also on saturday, the Fokker DVIII which was rebuilt after a landing accident at Schaffen some years ago had an engine run:

The engine was tested after the Spit had rested at the Antwerp museum during the winter:

Around noon, a second spit was pulled out of the museum. This was Spitfire MK XIV.

And then came the event of the week: The Stampe Fly-in at the airfield of Antwerp.
I had plans to go on sunday, but in the end, I went both days. I got the info that there might be something interesting there (thanks rats).
And here it is; The unannounced HFL Spitfire Tr9 😎 :

A few days later, I went to the open door at Braschaat. There you could see 2 of the Vormezeele planes. The Fiat G46 OO-VOR and the Harvard MK IIB OO-DAF.
Here some pics of the Harvard:

And now the single seat Fiat G-46:

The Harvard and the Fiat flew later that day, but I had to leave earlier for work.
