Hi all
finally I managed to sort through piles of photographs from the “La Ferté Alais” weekend. We have seen a good coverage of the airshow already, so I will refrain from posting my pictures [unless you really want to].
I will, however, show you what I have done on Friday and Saturday, when it was raining……
My host and good friend Laurent Boulestin, member of “Les Ailes Anciennes” near Le Bourget Airport, arranged for a truly unforgettable weekend.
“Les Ailes Anciennes” is a group of enthusiast who are restoring aircraft and aircraft-engines to static condition during their free weekends.
In this thread I will share a few impressions with you:
First, The French Navy Lancaster NX664 “WU.21” that is under restoration to static condition since 14 years. It was recovered from Wallis in May 1984 – more details on Laurent’s site:

The forward fuselage, well restored both outside and inside

Details of the yet unrestored wings – French markings still visible

The center section – in primer

The rear fuselage and a pile of various parts & debris next to it

and under the wings, the storage area for small parts, engines, tyres and propellers

Enjoy
