Hi All,
Myself and Tom were up at LBA today. I’ve been getting a little practice with the 350D and Photoshop, and this is what I came up with in the glorious West Yorkshire sunshine. Hope you enjoy!

As there have been a few contrail shots on here lately, I thought I’d have a go too…

Well… It looks like it was a setting in the camera doing odd things to the photos. My beer debt to Mr Nicholson just increased! 🙂

P.S. Also thanks Sam for the link you sent me.

Sad to see the TOM 757 now operating without “operated by Britannia” titles

Great work there, but I was also thinking the same about the oversharpening!
Are you using USM (Unsharp Mask)? If so, what settings?
You look to have got it about right on the close-up of CELC, but certainly the FR’s and the Bmi ERJ have lots of ‘jaggies’.
Dan, I’m not using any specific settings, I’m just fiddling until it looks better. They really do look fine on my screen though. On a few of them I un-did the sharpening and started again because it looked too much, but even in this thread on my screen they look fine.
Any suggestions?

Hey, maybe i’m not so bad after all, I never noticed them on the ERJ, but can see them when I look, as you say, the close up of CELC looks great.

Yeah is interesting, as you say they looked fine on your screen, but I can definitly see what the guys are talking about on some of the shots.
I think people with more photographic experience than myself such as Lance, would be able to advise you better.
Hopefully. Where’s Mr Nicholson when you need him?!

I havent got a great photographers eye and love Paul’s shots anyway, but am I right in thinking the Ryanair shots are the ones with jaggies?
I’d like to know if it shows on some shots more than others. Tom, you saw them on my laptop screen, they all looked smooth. I’m a little confused…

Splendid shots Paul!

I’m glad Sam mentioned the sharpening. I was beginning to think it was my eyesight…… :D:D:D
Looks like you had a nice day too. 🙂
Hmm… They don’t have any of the jagged over-sharpened thing on my screen whatsoever, not even when I connect a CRT monitor to the laptop. I’ll keep fiddling…
