A300 & A310

Its that age old debate again between the A321 and A330 in Airbus’ supply list.

Of course the A300 and A310 are still available which could supply this niche, but how are these models doing?

Is there still a passenger market for these old birds?

I flew on an A310 with DL a few years ago.
I guess it was an ex PanAm A310 that DL tookover when PanAm went under. Good plane actually …

I flew on a Swissair A310 ten years ago, and don’t have any complaints about the a/c.

I’m sorry Kabir but i don’t share your views on this one. I flew A310 of KLM and i like it….however, it’s not a popular aircraft, i think A300 is far more popular but i like the looks of A300 better than A310 it’s not my favourite but it flew well even through turbulance.

I know a couple of A300-600 pilots and they both love the aircraft. There’s very little difference between an A300-600 and a B767-300 from a pilots perspective.

From what ive heard the A310 sounds pretty terrible.
But I have to admit I really like the A300/A310 cockpits. Ok ok they are fly-by-wire which I dont like, and they may be terrible for a pilot to fly, but from all the photos ive seen of them, wow!
I think they look the most like a cockpit should. Please though, NO JOYSTICKS! They dont have the entire ‘glass cockpit’, and also it makes a pilot do what hes meant to do, fly the plane, not be an engineer on the aircraft making sure the plane is flying itself!
Sorry to all you airbus lovers out there, but apart from the A300/310, i think theyre all pretty dull.
(and by the way, not im not starting an A vs B war ok:D )

When i used to travel a lot i always got to the airport early so i could get the seat by the emergency exit with all that leg room.

Thanks for that! But personally I don’t think it’d make much difference where I was sat… I’ve never been the kind of person who enjoys sitting around staying still for a few hours… A film at the cinema is enough for me!!!

Some advice.
The secret to be confortable on a long flight is to have a good seat.
Manage to have your seat booked when you buy the ticket.
If the airline doesn’t provide that service , be early at the airport in order to be able to chose the best seats. Get a seat map of the type and pick what you like the most: fisrt row , emergency exit etc….

Lol… I sincerely hope so… I hated my last long haul flight, I just don’t like sitting down for that length of time!!!!

I think UPS has a current order for at least one A300F?
