A320

I really love this machine, not only because it´s European, an state of art machine and really beautiful. And it´s the most popular Iberia aircraft. This one was about to depart in the daily IB flight to LHR. I wish I were inside.

They’ll probably do what Boeing did with the 737..primp preen and tweak it for the next thirty years

The successor to the Narrow body is on the Drawing board:confused: Catia screens now.
It will be plastic, following on from A350.

Hi all.

The A320 has been around a while now, I am just surpried that Airbus have not developed it a little more, for example an ER version or extra fuel tanks.

Extra fuel tanks would be little use if the MTOW of the plane means payload must be left behind to carry the extra fuel. The ER version of A320 is the shrink, A319. And A319 does have extra fuel tank options – A319LR/A319CJ can add a lot of range while limiting payload and luggage volume.

RE: A320

From my point of view, not yet an engineer but just an student of aeronautical engineering:Yes, landing gear is a nightmare, not only because of the extra weight but because of the vibration and structural problem, a landing is something very violent so you have to study it very careful. This isn´t easy, even with a very simple model of the landing gear.

RE: A320

Well tastes are tastes. And about being reliable, I don´t really find the B737 a particularly realiable aircraft, appart from being terribly ugly. In any case, it should be useful if you get some more information before telling some statements. Just make clear, Airbus aircraft have never had any crash because of manufacturing faults. I am affraid Boeing can´t say the same. It quite simplistic comparing Boieng and Airbus. Boeing has built legends and still builds good aricraft. But it´s time to be generous and acknowledge that Airbus makes terrific aircraft too. It seems that some americans are a bit envious and don´t want others to sell good planes. Sorry Airbus is here to stay.

RE: A320

How can you like such an ugly aircraft. Hey it may be European but its ugly and unreliable. The top three aircraft in Britain that have had the most incidents are all A320’s. Give me a 737 any day. As you can tell the 757 is simply the best.

RE: A320

Airbus wouldn’t agree with you!! All aircraft designers hate landing gear!! It is heavy, it takes up space, and is only used when the aircraft is on the ground! If you could figure out a way to dispense with the landing gear you’d be a rich man!!

How much heavier is the double bogey landing gear?… just out of interest!

RE: A320

I also like the A320, but what would make it look even better for me is if it had, and I know it does’nt need it, a double bogey MLG, that would set it off just nice.
