This is probably a stupid question, but when did Airbus start fitting winglets to the A320? I went on two last year, one had winglets and one did not, and I was trying to work out the age of the one with plain wings.

yeah – the earlyer A320-100’s (mainly BA and AF) were none fenced and all the 200 series (post 1991) have the fences, and did u know that Indian airlines are the only airline in the world to operate twin bogie A320’s for use in rough indian runways!! – soz Kabir, was that one of your facts i picked up??

And yes…Winglets is a trademark of Boeing, Airbus call theres Wing Fence.

Thanks Kabir, I had always assumed it was the other way round and the plain wings was the older one.

The earlier versions of the A320 were with winglets, the later versions are without winglets.
