Whilst riding to the city today from my house i heard an A330 in the sky departing from Brisbane Airport what amazed me is that it was making quite an noise just like a 747 or even worse, this is from the Qantas fleet i was just wondering if the A330’s are normally this noisy!

Airbus aircraft “wipe away” the sound outwards some way. The 777 for example is noisier in the cabin, but is quieter from the outside for example on take off. I had a chart about it in Piloot & Vliegtuig but threw it away yet.
A330/340 area really very quiet.

Yeah i knew it was like a quiet aircraft but for some reason it was loud and i was really surprised of the noise it was making

It might have been running its engines at full for some reason. It’s usually one of the quietest around, inside and out

Inside an A330 is a different matter, sooo quiet! Didn’t hear the RR engines on my bmi A330 ever on my flight. Could hear myself think, not like the 767 and 777 i had been on trans-atlantic before!

I never heard anything about this. I lived many years just next ORY and I never noticed that the A330 was noisier than any other jet of the same generation.
