RE: A36 Still at Duxford

One thing about Princess Elizabeth. This Sunday shee certainly seemed to have progressed. The rear fuselage is now fitted to the front. I think that they have had problems with getting the oil cooler to fit, but this also seems to be resolved. I would bet that they have her in the air by next season, and i’ll be anxiously waiting with my video camera. 😀

RE: A36 Still at Duxford

The A36 invader (Apache) sadly didn’t display at the Autumn Air Show. I saw her on Sunday at DX and her flaps, fin rudder and elevaators have all been removed and wrapped up in bubble wrap. They usually don’t take that much care during normal winter servicing!

Also there are many other components removed. I can only assume that the reports of her returning across the pond are true. I am glad that I was able to get extensive video footage of her flying witu both Steve Hinton and Stephen Grey at the controls in the week leading up to Flying Legends!! anyone want a copy?

RE: A36 Still at Duxford

Following some advice from others, I went to DX on the Friday before Legends. Good and bad weather that day but almost everything arrived for the show, plus some practice routines, including Steve Hinton in the A36 and later Stephen Gray went up in it too. I too, hope it does some more flying, perhaps for the September show. Would love to see it on the grass at Old Warden but perhaps I’m just dreaming…

Tony…I actually have no idea how long she will be staying at Duxford, I hope it will be for some time yet, as I would like to see her flying again 🙂 (I didn’t think that as the “star” of Legends this year she really had an opportunity to “shine” in the air…weren’t all her passes with other aircraft…no solo passes from her?)

PE has her wing on, rear fus is still off though. Cockpit is fitted out. Significant work seems to have happened since Flying Legends

RE: A36 Still at Duxford

They announced it will be there for some time. I wouldnt be suprised if they wait till Princess Elizabeth is ready so they can at least display them together.

Any idea of her status?
