A380 at Heathrow

I know this is a rather late reply to the party but I saw the A380 land from a rooftop in Chiswick and was amazed at how quiet it was. Saw numerous A320’s B737’s a BA747 and AC B767 all of who you could hear, but as the A380 went past not a sound!

Amazing machine!

Did anyone see the BBC News report yesterday morning flagging the 380’s visit to LHR? While the reporter droned on about “seats 550 blahblahblah” they showed in-flight footage of a 319, then a Beluga and finally the 380 itself!

Research, it’s a great thing.

The A380 only has reversers on the inboard engines. Airbus did not want to fit thrust reversers at all (the original plans for the A340-600 had no thrust reversers) as leaving them out saves an almighty amount of weight and brake technology (and noise considerations) is so good these days that they are not really necessary.

I know it’s powered by Trent 900’s. I didn’t think it actually had 900 engines! 😀

Im Back from France and I have had a fantastic day

I just heard on ITV news the A380 is powered by 900 Rolls Royce engines! News to me!

It is powered by Four 302kN (67,890lb) thrust class Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines.

The A380 will fly back to the ILA 2006 in Berlin on Friday, and over the weekend it will be presented in LH colours (stickers, like VH).

Ah excellent! Here in the Conwy Valley all we get is the military action, tho the based A319CJ has passed over here quite low once or twice

I do indeed. The pics were taken from the Forum offices, I do GIS for the City Council (GIS- Geographic Information Systems- maps combined with databases). Some days we get 3 or more Beluga movements, so quite used to large scale aircraft! The views towards Broughton are from my desk- so I can keep an eye on movements at work. Last year there was a burst of Chinook activity over at RAF Sealand, but usually biz jets and the occasional Hawk.

I see the 319CJ and Beluga many a time whilst at Chester Railway station, sadly i wasnt there today!! Bloomin Virgin Trains!

Watching the vid – it’s clear there’s a gusty crosswind, but he seemed to do a lot of very quick pitch up movements on short final…. was that just the wind or what?

Just saw it on a french news channel it went by a BA 747-400 my good it makes that thing look small ,I hear its staying over night at LHR. Shame not in VA or Lufthansa colours for the berlin airshow.
