Stand 12 is being prepared for the beast now. Idon’t know if there will be an airbridge for the upper deck though.

We were on stand by for a 380 diversion just before christmas when LHR was fog bound. Un fortunately the fog cleared.

Hi all

Manchester can handle the A380, stand 63 (recently used for the vs A340-600’s) is capable, but if needed stand 80 can hold it too.
Work at the end of T1 near the runway is being made A380 ready. Emirate plane to use the A380 next year, and The stands are close to the runway so to help turnaround times slightly (apparently EK have only given an extra 30 mins for the turnaround compared to the B773)

We may see a diversion or 2 before EK starts (MAN is the scheduled diversion point for SIA, QF, EK (LHR and TATL), EY and MH. Plus airbus may well bring one in to test the facilities before EK start too, but apart from that, there is nothing planned yet.

Hope that helps

Irvine – I know of no A380 movements at MAN in the foreseeable future.

Can Manchester even handle an A380?

There have been a number of recent improvements to taxiways, gates, etc to enable Manchester to handle the A380. MAN has handled the An-225 without any problems in terms of ground manoeuvres.

I think there are 2 gates earmarked for A380 ops – probably the same gates that are used to handle the B777-300s of Emirates and PIA that are frequent visitors to MAN.

I’m sure one of our fellow-members who work at MAN will correct me if I’m wrong. 🙂

Would Manchester be on any of the routes that Emirates, Singapore and Qantas fly to?
