It’s been announced that as of 1st September, Emirates is to use A380s on one of it’s daily services. Manchester Evening News article
A comment: “Emirates Airline president Tim Clark said: โManchester has been one of the strongest performers in our growing network of regional gateways, not only in the UK but globally.”

They can still do 3 daily flights. Remember the smallest equipment they have is the A330. It would be possible for them to do another increase in available capacity by going for an A330, A380 and 773 scenario with the 773 also having a 1st class cabin with Capacities roughly 285+517+354 respectively which would be further 400 seats a day (assuming they use the A330 as a 2 class aircraft). But I’m sure that any based line engineers wouldn’t welcome 3 aircaft types to service.
And in case anyone’s wondering, I believe they have no fewer than 7 seating configurations for the 773s: 4 are 3-class ranging from 354 seats to 380 seats and 3 are 2-class ranging from 427 seats to 442 seats.

It is now confirmed that Emirates will launch A380 service from DXB to MAN starting September 1. The A380 will operate flights EK17 and EK18. Presumably there’s now a demand for x3 flights a day on the route and so EK is cleverly increasing capacity by using the A380 which will avoid the need to operate x3 B777-300s a day.

The word on the streets is that the 517 seat configuration will operate into MAN.

They’ve currently got 2 varieties of 3 class A380s – one with 489 seats and 1 with 517 seats. The 2 class variety has yet to be delivered but I hope that there will be sufficient F and J sales out of MAN so it will not result in that aircraft usurping the 3 class aircraft, as that will put paid to getting a 3rd daily flight for about 3 years minimum.

Great news for Manchester.
Does Emirates have two-class configured A380s? Or will they be sending a three-class configured aircraft?
