No chance in hell for dial-up users to view these monstrocities. I can’t believe how big these files are.
I was wondering why this thing has been removed from the hangar, prior to being nowhere near complete. This thing is still missing quite a few essential itmes. Is Airbus just showing off a little prematurely?
On the second page of this thread you can see a rear view of the 380 in the static test hangar(only based on the assumption that the iron bird structure, atleast thats what I see, is only located in this building, which is located slightly north-east of the main assembly structure, I think the missing parts are not required for the first few test that will be conducted, then when the parts arrive or are nedded they will be put on and testing will continue.
I dont think Airbus is showing off, from the looks of it they were keeping it lowkey, it being night and all.
Hope this helps-

It took me quite a while to open them, as well.
Maybe you should think about reducing their size, Tooms1, so that dial-up users will at least have a sporting chance of seeing them. 🙂

I’d say some of the pics were heavy! They even took my relatively quick broadband connection about 30 seconds to fully load! Great photos. I thought that the wing landing gear would have the 6 bogies and the ones on the body would have 4? I guess not.

sorry, some pics are heavy

Yes, I did just favour a Boeing product over an Airbus product 😛
Spoken like a true Boeing fan, out of the closet. 😉

While Matthew Murray was on about the 773ER-does anybody know how dirty AF’s one is yet.
By: Grey Area - 29th May 2004 at 17:01
Apparently the source for this rumour is a quite senior manager within BA itself, Matthew.
Clearly I’m in no position to verify this, but no-one has yet refuted it either.

BA really have no choice to, what with almost every major airline in Europe and Singapore, Emirates etc. getting them they would lose out heavily without them.
I’m not sure about that.
I think the benefit of being able to fly their 744’s into places the A380 won;t be able to will outweigh this. Also, it is quite possible BA will have 777-300’s by then, further increasing the ammount of airports BA can operate 747 loads into.
The A380 will initialy, and in my opionion crucially, be limited to a relatively small ammount of airports. This could be a deathblow for the A380. As airlines will not buy an aircraft they cannot operate.

obviously not too long to go now until the proto-type is finished.

Why would EZY buy the A380?
Damned if I know, but it looks very much as though BA are going to!

CRAVING to see the final result!

Thanks for posting those comparison piccies Ren. Not much bigger than a 747- but then it was never going to be much larger if they were to stick to the 80m cube concept.
It looks absolutely insane next to the 732 though!

I just realised – lol when im boarding easyjet they tell you to walk around the wing fully if using back steps. Lol long walk on A380!!!
By: RIPConcorde - 28th May 2004 at 12:16
Those wings are way too elegant looking to put on a big fat bird like it! 😀

The pilot who first flies her could well be an Aviation hero lol! Mind you his pants are probably a nice shade of brown when he looks at what he has to fly!
