A very enjoyable day out and the forecast of sunshine seemed to draw a lot of people to Duxford. I missed the first fly past at 10.30 as the bus was stuck in traffic. The USAFE flypasts were quite not up to those of past years and no mixed formations. It was worth the wait for the Hercules though just to watch it taxiing backwards in a black smoke screen of its own exhaust. Pity the clouds rolled in when the flying always started. I changed the picture ration in my camera from 3.2 to 16.9 and to me the wide screen format seems to suit aeroplanes as a subject better. All photos in the order they were taken in Jpeg with a Sony 70-300mm G SSM lens.

A full report and more photos in my fotogallery next week.

The Sabre display was excellent, good weather and a nice audience number wise made this a good day out, much better than the large shows. Bought 2 tee-shirts from the 492nd TFS Lakenheath for £10 each great to see the Americans, pity Duxford catering policy did not allow burgers, spare ribs like the old Mildenhall air shows with an ice cold Bud from a cooled dustbin.

Great shots. The 16:9 format should become a standard for pix and video. It looks so much more natural for our steroscopic sight, don’t you think so?
Thanks.

Great photos and a very enjoyable day. I took my two boys, their first air show experience, and the highlight of their day was being blown away behind the Hercules as it backed up, gripping the bags containing the Airfix Hurricanes that they had very proudly made! Beautiful display by the Sabre, and superb use of the sky by the Spitfire V. Nice weather, too!
