They should have sent the paint to PPG to be examined.
Still being able to use it after 60 odd years! That’s some shelf life! 😀
I think your dispatcher friend may have got it wrong lol

Moved to Brize Norton and still on display looking rather well kept 😉
I was told by an ex air dispatcher who has shares in her that the paint job was done with nos period paint discovered in one of the hangars.

What happened to G-AMPO between being sold in 1989 and ending up at Lyneham, and then Brize?

Blackbush in 1982. They probably weren’t abandoned, but it looked that way!

Here’s another from Newcastle. The aircraft I think is called a Sonerai. I was told it was flown once and scared the owner, and sat in the Bellman hangar, probably until the hangar was demolished.

my friend has G-AMPO in his log book. Where is she now? not at Lyneham?

G-AMPO sat at Newcastle for several years until someone finally purchased it and I believe paid an outstanding debt on the aircraft.

Beech 18 has been flown and is now at home in France.
Mark is a good friend of mine and has made a fantastic effort to get her flying again.
Pics of her now.

Welcome aboard – you need one of these to help in your search for an airframe! 😉

These planes sit there rotting while folk like me bang our heads against the wall trying to find derelict airframes for our Scouts to maintain and use for basic training at our site.
If anyone knows of any planes looking for a nice retirement home in Norfolk we’d be delighted to hear from them! 😉 The ST-10 at Spalding would look so good sat next to our HQ building…
