Airliners.Net has it as “G-BLPG / 16693 cn3395. its also quoted it as Austa J1-N Alpha. Does that mean that this example is a replica or hybrid rebuild.

Thanks for the info guys. I was not able to access the Auster production list site so I’m not sure what 3395 is or was. But I will follow it up.

As far as I am aware she is just painted in Canadian colours to be different. I will have to ask the owner next time I see him.

Nice pics. I like the Auster as I’m currently writing a history of the Canadian Auster AOP.6 & T-7. The last T-7 was 16692. So can you (or anyone) tell me the identity of “693”

A couple on the ground.

We may be under delusions of grandure but as all VGS are now under the command of the RAF EFTS organisation we like to think we are now an RAF unit. It may say Air Cadets on the fuselage but they no longer control us. We also proudly fly the RAF ensign when we are operating.

As member of 612 VGS the resident RAF unit at Abingdon I tend to see a different view of the show (not least because we tend to be positioned as far from the flightline as possible).

Being ex Abingdon(47Sqdn), please explain. I thought the RAF had totally abandoned a once beaut airfield.

Thanks Fly Girl, I have to agree with Moggy, I’ve been to a few now and they just get better and better, It’s a great way to open the Airshow season with a relaxed atmosphere and the organisers and helpers are the best I come into contact with.
Always something to do and there is no twenty deep crowd lines to cope with. Looking forward to next year already.
