Abingdon Air Fayre

So whos going along to support Neils event on the May weekend ?.Its only a couple of weeks away and it would be nice to put some faces to names.
I know it clashes with the first OW event, I too would normally be there, but as this is very local to me and I know a lot of effort goes in and the funds go to great causes I will support it again.
Whats more its my Bday the following day, so a great way to start the airshow season.
We should agree a rendevous point.

Excellent event – gets better each year! Love the ‘period shot’ of the Dragon TMN, incidently which was due to me that it attended! Here is a line-up of visitors.

and while I am nursing a sunburnt face and arms, and are afraid to go out for fear of people pointing and laughing, I may as well post a few more shots.

Lovely day 😉 Denny Dobson and the Chinook stole the show, despite a little blunder with the rear wheel on the chinook 😉 Denny just gets better!!! Only real blunders!! The catering!! Bad lack of forward planning, underestimating possible turnout!!!! 😉 😉 Anna  😉

A Great Day

Today was my first visit to Abingdon….. but it won’t be my last! 🙂

Wonderful weather, great flying and a well presented static park, together with a nice relaxed atmosphere.

A brilliant start to the year, well done to all concerned.

Cheers
Kilvy

Not sure about the bloke singing next to the arena though! :diablo:

What I saw looked very good. However, I had to leave before the flying display because I didn’t feel too well. A good meal and a rest and I’m ok again now.

Like the informal atmosphere and the closeness to the statics. Took a few photos which are attached. A very pleasant morning well spent.

Abingdon Air Fayre

Well done yet again to everyone concerned! Great all round entertainment and lets hope you can better yourselves next year (CAA permitting of course)
Great idea with the petition lets hope they take notice. All on the hottest day of the year so far too. Hope the Chinook gets better soon.

Yep even though the chinook lost a rear wheel during it’s display. Anna and i thought that Denny Dobson did a great display. Looking forward to seeing Damien B’s pics as we spotted him walking around with mrs B. Saw Janie’s shiny chipmunk also.

Albert, seeing your photo struck a chord for me: in my case it was Filton, and the date on the back of the print is 9 July 1960, so they were doing this routine regularly, it seems!
Sorry about the “quality” but I think I had a little cheap Kodak, and they were rather high . . .

Thought you might like to see some of my oldest Abingdon slides, taken by my grandfather there at ‘At Home Day, September 1963

I still doubt I’ll manage to persuade her as it’s not “real shopping”

My report on last year’s event was published in Aircraft Illustrated, so you can read how good it was! 😉 Lovely weather and a great variety of civil and military, vintage and modern…even a RAF Merlin! Let’s hope for more of the same and give him all your support.

I may be able to attend as I am on holiday that week but it depends on what punishment duties the other half finds for me. Guaranteed she’ll find something to stop me from getting there
