reported:
On 7 March 2005, a PLAAF single-engine jet fighter made an emergency landing in the Ji Nan Military District.
At 17:51, it (call-sign 848) took off for a night training sortie.
At 17:55, at height 2,500 metres and speed 700 km/h, the aircraft shook. The pilot reported to the control tower (call-sign 1) that the lubricant pressure dropped to 0, which could lead to engine flame-out, and was authorised to abort and RTB. As the aircraft descended, its fight control and shaking became worse.
At 17:58, it got into the landing path.
At 18:00, although still heavy with fuel, it safely landed.
On or about 6 April 2005, the pilot, PENG Chao, a squadron commander, was awarded a third-class award. He has fewer than 650 flight hours.
