Aces High WWII Online Flight Sim – Players Sign Up Here!

For anyone who is, or who would like to be, a player in this alternative to CFS/IL2, I propose that a Head to Head Arena (which is free), be established for Flypast Forum Members. For those that would like to download it to try it out (and I recommend you go to http://www.netaces.org to help you learn to fly), here is the address:

http://www.hitechcreations.com/

The download on a 56k modem is long (90 minutes), but once you’ve got it, you can play to your hearts content on or offline.

The arena can take 8 players, but even 2 would be fine. we can do what we want, air display routine, formation, dogfight, circuits, whatever.

If you want to try it please leave a message on this thread. If you would like to go H2H with me, i will be more than happy to talk you through getting the hang of it in a h2h arena, one to one.

Respect to CFS/IL2 players – I hope you get players for your online versions.

Aces High

I usually go by Sharada, I do often change it depending on who I am hunting (EG). I am not sure what the time difference is between us. I am on EST and I usually fly some most every night.Best thing to do is if you have AIM to contact me to see if I am on.

RE: If Aces High Feezes when first using

I binned it. Has potential for sure, flies good, scenery is superb, but no fun, and couldn’t do what I wanted to do with it. Have it on CD in case I decide to try again, but not impressed. CFS2 is still the way to go, with IL2 and CFS3 in joint second place.

RE: If Aces High Feezes when first using

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 09-01-03 AT 10:03 PM (GMT)]Snapper, yeah, it’s acknowledged that the scenery is a bit 1999-2000 but the thing I like about this game is the attention to flight modelling characteristics.

I don’t know about the frame rate issue, whether it’s a server or PC issue. AH technical run a high spec server system and from what I have read the problem is usually due to the way the ISP connects to the online bit of the game.

Geedee, good on ‘yer for sticking with the download. This game takes time to master as it’s not a shoot ’em up in the classic sense. Check out the HTC BBs for good hints ‘n tips and I will gladly fly 1 to 1 with anyone in a private room and talk thru useful key strokes etc.

That’s Snapper, Geedee, Michelle, and me now with the potential to fly in the hvh arena.

Could you all leave a post as to when you are usually avaiable, so we can get a date sorted for an rv?

Regards

RE: If Aces High Feezes when first using

So far, I don’t like it. At all. Cockpit graphics are very good, scenery is excellent, frame rates are ridiculously low, and its nowhere near IL2 / CFS1, 2, or even the illegitemate 3 in regards play. This is, however, not a full evaluation – just first thoughts.

RE: If Aces High Feezes when first using

Bah. It takes a bloody sight longer than 90 minutes on my 56k modem (connecting at 45.2kbps), even segmented and downloading from up to ten mirror sites. Still, I have it in now. Will maybe have a practise tonight, but most likely tomorrow. Life will perhaps be back to normal next week. I have a mini-xmas tonight, a family xmas on Sunday, and many more things in between. And my daughter has two teeth! Haha. She looks like a 112 Sqn P40B Tomahawk. In the right light. When I’ve had too many G&T’s.

If Aces High Feezes when first using

To Snapper and eveyone else – BEWARE!

If you use Zone Alarm, and you see your screen freeze while using the clipboard when accessing Aces High for the first time, you need to type

ry

then press enter. This instructs ZA to let AH communicate to your computer. After this it will run ok every time. Similarly, if you run any other fire-wall program you may need to go into that firewall program and tell it that AH is ok.

RE: Aces High WWII Online Flight Sim – Players Sign Up Here!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 05-01-03 AT 10:44 PM (GMT)]Haha. The jacket is because i’m cold-hearted. It was secondhand through the back of Flypast a couple of years back – £150. Hence its too small for me to wear anything other than a t-shirt under it. But I only wear T-Shirts in summer anyway…..

The badge is, of course, 609 (WR) Sqn. I got it here:

http://www.badgeofpride.com/

Very friendly people to deal with, quick and efficient too.

And i’m downloading Aces High as we speak. But Mrs Snapper returns from France tomorrow with Whipper-Snapper, so I won’t be online dogfighting for a couple of days. I’ll have to do 21/2 weeks washing up instead.

Michelle and others – my Callsign is Dr Lecter. How far is your State behind BST? Then we can arrange a time to go online. And what is your callsign?

Snapper – yeh good to meet you too mate. Check out that flying jacket – a true enthusiast (ha ha!). If you don’t mind, I would like to stick to AH for the time being because my brain gets a bit addled by too many diffeent sims, and more importantly, I could’nt deny Mrs Seafuryfan of at least SOME face time downstairs (lol).

I’ll download it tonight, and give it a try. Good to meet you today btw.

Have you got cfs2/il2? It would be good to have different combats with different games. I have done CFS2 and 3, and IL2 online, and all are different. Good points and bad points.
