Pete Postlethwaite (1946–2011)
For some unknown, for other underrated. I am in the latter group.
He was always a pleasant surprise when he popped up on screen during a film.
Not sure why he never made it quite into the A-List actors club, but he’ll always be one of the greats in my mind, he brought more presence and believability to the characters he played than some of the so-called “stars” ever could.
RIP Pete.

I think I’ll always remember him best as Obadiah Hakeswill in the Sharpe Series.

A sad loss. I also consider him to have been grossly underrated.

He was an amazing actor and it is a shame more people maybe did not recognise him and his talents. But those who did know how great he was.
The irony of the modern times is we make celebrity out of the talentless and let the talented pass us by.
RIP Pete underated but not nver to be forgotten.

Firstly I am shocked and secondly I totally endorse your comments. Much of his best work was done on stage and theatre acting passes the majority of the population by, sadly.
