Hi,
I have a copy of the movement cards of Harrier T.2/.4 XW268, I’d like to know what location ‘ADA’ refers to.
Can someone also explain the ‘cat. 3’ term (out of service for repairs/upgrade?) and translate some of the other entries on the cards (e.g. ‘S101′ in the authority column before ’38 GRP’).

cheers and thanks in advance,
-John

Thanks AgCat, pagen01 and Jon!
Another question………
I have one of the sticks from XW268 and have found a lot of photos and information, it spent 20 years with 233 OCU and 1 Sqn. (then the last 4 years with RN) I’m trying to get a 233 OCU crest/patch (and a 1 Sqn. but can get a current one), can anyone help me out? (Don’t expect it for free).

Someone did a nice job of mounting the stick, the base has 1 Sqn. and 233 OCU lapel badges mounted on it.
cheers,
-John

Hi guys
Not sure but saw 5101 on a lot of forms and seem to think it was the SENGO’s authority senior engineering officer like I say not sure but rings a bell.
Somebody will confirm or contradict as to ADA i’m stumped
Regards
Jon

ADA = Aircraft Disposal Account. This annotation allocated when aircraft taken off squadron strength so that when the Taceval team arrive SACEUR does not expect it to be generated within the next 12 hours.

I don’t know what ADA actually stands for, but assumed it was a period of repair when the aircraft wasn’t assigned to a squadron, ie temporarily out of service.
Also thinking out aloud could S101 (SIO1?) have been a postion, like a signing authority, within the groups at Strike Commands offices, ie as SO1, SO2 etc is now?
I can ask at work (St Athan) tomorrow.

Thanks Stacey,
any ideas on ‘ADA’ in the location column? I just noticed that ADA marked in three times, Cat. 2, Cat.3 and Cat.3S

Cat 1 minor repairs
Cat 2 repairs more in depth still carried out at sqn level
Cat 3 repairs requiring specialist advice usually undertaken by either a structures bay or RSS St Athan for fixed wing
Cat 4 Repairs requiring return to manufacturer Major sub section repair
Cat 5 Written Off, Crash or reduced to spares
