I went to post an a-net picture on another site recently and realised there was a lot of copyright stuff regarding even linking to these pictures.
Apparently you at least need permission from the photographer before you paste.
Do we all do that here? There is a lot of a-net pictures in this forum, so individually do we need to gain permission before we post or are we allowed just to paste the picture.
As I said, I was going to do it the other day but didn’t want to get into trouble.

I think this is great commercial for let’s say airliners.net… If I come to this forum and see nice pic that I like and at the bottom there is airliners.net written, I’ll go: “Hey, let’s see if they have any more pics that would interest me.”
So, I think it is not so bad for them if pics appear on this forum.

The webmaster has never seemed to bothered about it to be honest so I guess we can’t be doing too much damage. Only time I have known him to do so is if someone alters the picture.

Sites like airliners.net and others understand these problems. As they dont pay for any photos they show, then technically there is no copyright. This is why they put there advert under each photo. It works as I went onto a site that I didnt know was there. You sometimes find a site which puts a water mark onto the pic and the only way to remove this is to pay for it and this is the copyright.

That one copyright warning on Airliners.net is not the view of the photographers but that of the people that make the website. I’m sure that the photographers would be thrilled if they knew that people were recommending their work.
Let’s face it, we haven’t removed the Airliners.net banner, edited the images and in some cases, we haven’t even hosted it in our own webspace, but linked to it as Airliners.net encourages, telling visitors to “use the following link to link to this photo” etc etc.
