Surprised that no one brought this up. Admiral Fox Fallon, former head of the US Pacific Command, has been assigned to CENTCOM (Central Command) which oversees the Middle East and Central Asia and both the Iraq and Afghan wars.
Publications remarked that even members of the Pentagon is surprised that a naval commander (former carrier pilot) is being asked to take charge where two ground wars are raging.
Fallon is replacing Army Gen. Abizaid in the post. Abizaid had supposedly supported talks with Iraq’s neighbors including Iran to stabilize the nation. Bush is replacing him with a naval strike specialist.
Hints of a new front in the Middle East? This time by the under utilized Navy on Iran?
