Spotted this in Flypast…
Anyone got any idea what’s being worked on…??
If the customer wants to remain under cover that’s fine, but just curious as to what it might be…

Are the large lumps of Wellington still where they were?
I think the term “metal skinned” use in the ad. rules out the Wellington!

There are several good reasons to keep project workshops locations and jobs in hand confidential. The main one is to reduce the attraction to thieves. We see on here appeals after break ins and while its common to see garages advertised, the more exotic, rare workshops prefer to keep a low profile, the exception being those on active public sites eg Duxford.
As for the subject of the re build, well there are dozens of potential projects advertised every month and they travel the world inside shipping containers only breaking cover if they unload at a place like Duxford. Lets keep some mystery in this world!

The biggest question really is – does it matter? Clearly the owner of the project and/or the company contracted to do it if they aren’t the same thing wish the work to not be public, so the forum should respect that.
Here we go…
Nobody has asked anyone to break secrets or disrespect anyone.
As I put in my original post:
If the customer wants to remain under cover that’s fine, but just curious as to what it might be…
It was a tongue in cheek question, a bit of fun with the guessing.
Clearly over some people’s heads…

The Typhoon project is based in East Sussex.
The biggest question really is – does it matter? Clearly the owner of the project and/or the company contracted to do it if they aren’t the same thing wish the work to not be public, so the forum should respect that. The fact they have to increase staff is good for them and they are clearly putting people capable of doing the work of a higher concern than those who just want to do the job to be involved with the type of aircraft which is the correct approach in a commercial organisation. The fact they have chosen to advertise in a historical magazine only really means they want somebody who has the right kind of skill set.
I would suggest emailing them just to find out what the project is without being a genuine application is a waste of the time of whoever is trying to recruit. If they wanted the information public, it would have been made public.

I would suggest Air Leading are more likely to be an A8-23/25 organisation, not an A8-24/25 organisation. The nature of the weightvof some of the machines they maintain puts them outside the A8-24 category.

Why the apparent secrecy?
Anyone know of something unique that would warrant secrecy?
You would think that providing a type…or even a general class (single engine fighter, multi engine bomber or whatever) might help find someone with experience…or interest…in the type.

Lol… Well yes, I did think of doing that…
Thing is, most engineers I know wouldn’t bother applying without more info in the advert.
Bit of a chicken and egg situation…

I could email and ask if you like?
