Advice required re: CF cards and Canon 350D

Hi guys.
I have just bought a Sandisk Ultra2, 2gb CF card, which is a bit stiff to put in the EOS 350D,and get a “ERR CF” message on the camera, does anyone else use this card in their 350D?? any problems??, i also use a 1gb card with no problems.
Cheers for any feedback.

Thanks for all the replies guys.
I feel there may be a problem with the card after all, i tried it on a card reader, and it works fine, but will not work on either the 350D or my old camera a 30D.I am going to try it in my friends 350 to see if it works on his.
BTW i got the card from Ebay UK seller “24 Hours” cost was £25 plus £4 P&P.
Thanks again.

Thanks, Mike, the same card here in Sweden costs $71, so I’ll wait!

OK, Mike, it’s just that this thread began with the 350D and I assumed (wrongly) that eveything in it referred to that camera!
Incidentally, should I wait until I get to the USA before stocking up on memory (1 Gb cards)? I again assume that they are more expensive in Sweden (or the UK) but may be wrong – can you tell us all what a 1 Gb card costs over there where you are please?

Back from the website – it looks as if 1.0.3 is the latest version after all, dating from October 2005, false alarm!
The spec. for the camera says it will take 2 Gb cards, anyway, I just don’t have such a card!

My new EOS 350D has Version 1.0.3 firmware (I just checked) and it’s straight out of the box! Perhaps it’s been sitting on a shelf for 3 years or more!
Off to the Canon website now to see if I can upgrade the firmware!!!

I had a similar thing happen when I put a 2Gb card in my Nikon D100, the camera never recognised the card, it may be just a case of down loading an update for the camera, otherwise just stick to 1Gb cards as I did.

Yep, that’s basically it, you need firmware 2.0 (released 2003?) which introduces FAT32 support to use large cards with the D100. Once upgraded my D100 is happy with 2 and 4GB cards.

The 350D is a much newer camera however, and should support big cards straight out of the box.

Did you format it? Is there any visible damage on the card?
