Has anyone flown with Aer Lingus? If so, are they good? I’m expecting to fly from Manchester to Dublin with them next year, and everyone I know who’s ever been to Ireland has been on the ferry (the boring way if you ask me).[http://www.groups.yahoo.com/group/sabenabelgianairlines]

RE: Aer Lingus
I remember that AL were going to use a different type of fuel some years ago. When burnt it created O2, what ever happened to that project?

RE: Aer Lingus
Comet….I have flown many times with Aer Lingus between STN-DUB,usually on Bae 146-300. Service excellant, even better than LH who I have also used many times.
Have a good trip!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 15-11-02 AT 11:19 PM (GMT)]I have flown on EI several times on short and long haul routes. I think they are fine, I very much liked their A330s also flew on one of their 747s from JFK several years ago. The service, food etc is good, not exceptional, but good

P.S Just North of Dublin (10mins on the bus) is Clontarf and a little further still are some great little villages and beaches. Try Rush for example.

Bear in mind there aren’t many motorways in Ireland and that driving round can take a while !!! Otherwise it’s a great drive.

RE: Aer Lingus
I have flown Aer Lingus to Dublin from both LHR and MAN, and found both times the service to be very friendly. You’re right, for a quick flight from Manchester to Dublin you really don’t have time to eat anything, in fact, it’s just an disturbance in your viewing time.
Been to Ireland many times, very lovely people.

RE: Aer Lingus
Saab – this will be a short break (Monday to Thursday) so initially Dublin, I will see Dublin on the first visit and then maybe visit other places on future visits. I don’t drive so I need to be within easy reach of transport but if I get the opportunity sometime I would like to see the west of the country.

Some of the best countryside is on the West coast. Try Galway for a great night out and Cork for the same. Donegal is rugged and windswept. Dublin for a party but otherwise just like visiting any other city in Europe really !

RE: Aer Lingus
I would be flying on the BAe 146 I think. Interesting point about paying for food and drink, Saab, but on such a short flight I don’t think there’ll be a problem as I usually like to have a drink in the airport before I fly. I’ve been considering Ireland for a few years now, this is the first opportunity to actually put my plans into action. There certainly looks to be beautiful countryside there.

RE: Aer Lingus
I flew from Glasgow to Los Angeles via Dublin this June and thought it was a great airline. Nothing was any trouble, food and drink service was excellent and we had as much as we wanted. This was in economy class too. The Glasgow/Dublin flights were by Bae 146, short and sweet, not really any time for food anyway. LA flights were A300.
Nice plane, nice people.

RE: Aer Lingus
I once flew LHR-DUB-LHR on a 737 with them (going for an interview). Service the same as any other respectable outfit.

RE: Aer Lingus
My sister and her husband fly LHR LAX frequently and they often fly Aer Lingus as a low priced alternative on that route. They say service is OK.

RE: Aer Lingus
Comet,i’ve done JER-ORK on a Fokker 50 (rather long time ago) and JER-DUB on the BAe 146.They are one of my favourite airlines. The cabin crew are very friendly and helpful and the service is good. However,on all Aer Lingus UK flights you now have to pay for food and drinks so the quality of service might of changed from when I travelled them.
Have a great trip.Ireland is beautiful!

Not a personel experience…my father did CPH-DUB and said it was quite a good experience.
