Ladies and Gents,
Just a quick question in the hopes that someone may know a definitive answer – eldest girl is flying back to the UK from New York at the weekend. She’s flying JFK-Shannon-Heathrow on Aer Lingus.
Now I’m trying to head off any problems making sure she’s prepared for the flight etc and I’ve noticed that there are comments on the Aer Lingus website that the inflight entertainment systems have been upgraded on all A330 aircraft bar one, EI-DUB, that is being retired in March. Does anyone know if this older aircraft has personal TV’s and the ‘usual’ long haul entertainment systems?. If not then I will have to have her take something to occupy herself as I fear for the safety of the passengers and aircraft with a very sulky, bored, 14yr old aboard should she end up on this aircraft!.
Suitable appreciations for any assistance offered!

Why is it that all Aer Lingus international flights go through Shannon?
They don’t – most Aer Lingus transatlantic services go direct from Dublin.
Current schedule:-
from Shannon to New York JFK
EI0111 operates on Mon/Wed/Fri/Sun until 10th January
EI0107 will operate on Tue/Thu/Sat (from 12th January to 13th March)
Shannon to Boston
EI0133 operates on Mon/Wed/Fri/Sun until 23rd January.
One advantage Shannon does have is that US immigration & customs clearance services are now available to all flights.
Jet Airways are rumoured to be interested in moving their hub from Brussels to Shannon to avail of this.

Something about customs? I know you can clear US customs at Shannon so you don’t have to go through it on the US side. But I don’t know how it works on the way back.

If you unlucky enough to end upon EI-DUB, it doesnt have PTVs, just screens in the cabin ceilings.
That was what I was hoping not to hear!. Thanks all the same though Shamrock.
Anyone keep track of which planes are assigned to which routes and what the likelihood is of EI-DUB doing the JFK-Shannon run on Sunday?
