After a long, hot day down at Beech Restorations, it was nice to see a very interesting car in the pub car park – a 1913 Vauxhall, fitted with an 11 litre 1918 Wolseley Viper engine, as used on the SE5a. I’ve seen this vehicle at a couple of Vintage Sports Car Club race meetings but didn’t realise it was so local (presumably). Unfortunately only had my phone with me to take photos on

It’s also down to attend the Curborough Sprint next weekend, so will see it in action there

What an interesting thread , I hope it grows as there must be many more aero engined cars around .
You MUST meet BRUTUS! Brutus is powered by a BMW VI aero-engine (oh, I wish it was mine!) that once helped aircraft such as the Heinkel He 51, the He 70, the Dornier 17 and the early He 111 take to the skies.
The commentary is in german, but at least you can hear this monster!

IsnΒ΄t there an OX-5 engined car in the UK as well?

Nice, i’ve seen that one around Mallory last year too. Apparently another aero engined car, a 1926 Hispano Delage will be at Curborough today

Here’s a couple more shots of the same car at a hillclimb in France last year….

Also there last year was another aero engined car, this time with a Cirrus engine (and seats by Lloyd Loom ! π )
