Any recommendations?
I’m aware of the Tiger Club at Headcorne with a Cap-10c, Skyhawk at North Weald with an Extra 300 and someone at White Waltham with an Extra 300.
Does any one here compete?

I think you will find that the competitors just lurk on the forum and don’t post. Not that I know any of course, you understand.

Thanks for the names and airfields.
Does anyone here compete or done so in the past?

Contact the British Aerobatic Assoc. http://www.aerobatics.org.uk/
What is your nearest airfield?
I fly out of Biggin, that’s what’s drawing me towards The Tiger Club at Headcorne. The Cap10c they’ve got is supposed to be relatively docile compared to learning on an Extra.
I’ve been spinning in an Aerobat and quite frankly it barely has enough power to haul myself and an instructor into the sky.

Alan Cassidy at White Waltham is first class. I’m not sure what he is teaching on right now. It used to be G-STUA the Pitts. When I flew it, we’d spend 5 mins climbing up, 5 getting back and 30 mins of aeros. That way you do not tire so quicky.
If you have an hour-long aerobatic lesson it is easy to spend the last 15 mins making mistakes as you tire – more mentally than physically – when starting aeros.

When comparing rates, the thing you have to remember is that an aircraft that takes an age to climb to height (Chippy, Aerobat) will use up a lot more hours than a more sprightly type to deliver the same amount of training.

Try Western Air at Thruxton (01263 773900) – they have a Slinsby T-67M Firefly 160. I don’t aerobat myself but I do fly the aircraft and know that Bob Cole is an excellent aerobatics instructor. One of my fellow flyers has recently done some aerobatics revision on the aircraft and thoroughly enjoyed himself.
