aerodynamic question on the X-36 and BoP

I was wondering how lift is generated by the X-36’s and the Bird of Prey’s unique wing shapes

In this example, the wings area is rather small and not that much bigger than the Canards.

however this aircraft takes the cake as one of the most unothordox in aerodynamics. I was wondering how its wings and fueselage can generate lift.
