Aeroflot says no to western aircrafts!

RUSSIAN COMPANY AEROFLOT DOES NOT CONSIDER OPPORTUNITY OF BUYING AIRCRAFT

“Aeroflot board of directors does not consider an opportunity of buying foreign aircraft,” said Russia’s Minister of Transport, Chairman of the board of Directors of Aeroflot Sergei Frank at a press conference on Friday.

The minister supported Russian projects concerning development of advanced types of planes – TU-204 and TU-214. The state will be supporting their production by leasing programs, the minister said.

“I am totally against ultraliberal decisions on canceling planes’ import fees. We must not be so careless about our aviation industry,” Frank stated.

Besides, Frank believes that the measures for the Russian aviation industry protection must be balanced. Too high barriers for foreign aircraft will cost passengers their security and their money, Frank pointed.

The minister believes that excessively high fees will lower the level of competition thus giving the aviation industry no incentive for development. Frank believes it is necessary to consolidate the industry’s efforts in production of certain types of aircraft, which will be able to compete not only in the domestic but also in the international market.

Taking a nice fleet of the TU 214 will be good.

Yeah, I hope they buy their own products instead of Airbus or Boeing. Their own ac industry needs the money really bad.

I don´t really think they´ll something so stupid. So it would mean bye bye to A310, B737, B767, DC-10, and B777 and there´s not real replacement in Russian for these models.

so are they stopping operating the 777 on transatlantic flights? Or is the fact that they’re leased make it ok for them to keep flying them?

Noisy, and not as fuel efficient as Western engines either.

I think if Russia makes good a/c like the TU 204, it will benifit them greatly specially for the third world countries as it would be cheap and will have western avionics and maybe engines which most countries prefer. Engnes is another negetive part of Russian aviation. Even the latest Russian engines which are installed in the IL 62 are so noisy!

..it´s me again. At the end, they would operating a with a mixed fleet. I thinks they will be transfered to the internal market, where fares are low, the income is limited and the competence fierce and the use of a tupolev is unimportant (besides the economic conditions and price are an advantage), but on the international market if they pretend to compete with airlines using Boeing or Airbus they would have a negative response, especially from non russian citizens who don´t trust russian planes. I wouldn´t have any problem but the public in general has. About western fleet…Why not?. The americans are using Airbus and in Europe Boeing. If Tupolev and Illyushin, making good planes though, want to sell planes in Europe or America they should build planes which match the western competitors and standards. And I still find Russian planes, realiable and good machines. But in terms of performance, no comparision.

It´s simply a question of money. Russian aircraft are much cheaper, besides if Aeroflot doesn´t buy them, who will?.

The Americans and Europeans seem to buy mainly aircraft from their own aviation manufactures (with a few exceptions)so why shouldn’t the Russians do it?Good on them I say,the TU-214 is a beautiful aircraft!
