Aeroflot To Get Airbus Medium Range Fleet

Russian airline Aeroflot has selected Airbus to upgrade its medium-range fleet of aircraft, a French government source said Wednesday.
The official said Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov revealed the Aeroflot decision during a conversation on Tuesday with French President Jacques Chirac.The source said Kasyanov had not specified the number of new aircraft though he said an announcement was expected toward the end of July.
Cooperation in the aeronautic and space sector had been a leading subject of discussion during the French president’s visit to Russia a year ago, when a cooperation agreement between EADS and the Russian agency Rosaviakosmos was signed. The agreement notably allows the Russian aeronautics company to participate in Airbus programs.
