All I can say is brilliant! Well done RAF Museum, it kept my 4 year old interested for hours (after he had seen the Lancaster and Hurricane he wanted to see) – NOTE: He was NOT interested in the Spitfire (for some reason) so probably would not be welcomed here in the future 🙂
He even beat ‘Dad’ by hitting the drop zone target twice (I failed miserably)
I would STRONGLY recommend this to any parent!

I have visited it a couple of times with my children. It’s great entertainment of for the kids – my only complaint has been the unservicability of a couple of items on both occasions. I think there is a desperate need for more financial input into Hendon .

I was there a couple of weeks ago as a parent helper when my 8 year old’s school class went. Whilst the activities do keep the children amused I found that children in groups derive lots of playtime pleasure from the activities without understanding (or trying to understand) the point that each activity is trying to get across.
I think a set of notes for parents/guardians might help any children that are visiting with non-aviation minded adults.
Both the RAFM Hendon and Duxford AirSpace have done a great job at trying to inform children by way of interactive equipment. Having now visited bith in the space of four weeks it is fair to say they are equally good but both seem to suffer from heavy handed use. Several activites at both venues were out of commission.

Hurricane boy? Good chap. Now divert him to the Halifax, and you’ll have your real enthusiast well on the way… 😉
