The active electronically scanned array (AESA) will be installed on the next generation US-combataircraft. Currently, 18 F-15C’s are fitted with AESA. The F-22 will have it, and there are plans to upgrade the AF-18EF with an AESA.
Are there any non-US countries developping or testing an AESA-radar? If they aren’t, won’t they be oldfashioned?
I mean, everything I hear about the AESA is positive: easy to maintain and operate, not as heavy as doppler, more stealthy, more powerful,… Is it really that good?
