The latest issues of AFM are really full of political thoughts, opinions etc. Since sept 11, it looks like all the articles are written from an American/western point of view, which is a pity. In the newest issue, we already had the 3th article discussing the life on a carrier. This is interesting for a while, but not after a 3th time in about 6 months. Also, nice of them to put some extra info in their articles about who Saddam really is, but I already know he’s the bad guy, don’t tell me again. I preferred the old issues, always interesting because I didn’t only discuss the B-2, F-15, F-117 but also the less-known air forces. Now this seems to be impossible.
Does anyone have the same feelings about this? I’m sure.

The carrier-articles are really easy to make. Just random stuff. Discussing the Georgian air force ask more research, journalists who have to travel. They are becoming a bit lazy, I guess. They shouldn’t write these articles from their fancy offices in the UK, they should go in the field (if it is possible ofcourse).

Tom Coooper was muttering recently that they are susposed to be publishing another of his articles but it has been in recently. i’ld assume they are bumping off these articles and putting this stuff in. you’ll notice therre is no longer any info in the “next month” section.

No, in 1999 at least it was interesting. It wasn’t full of politics, maybe also because 18 airforces participated in the whole operation. Saddam Next? That’s the kind of articles I don’t want to read. More about the IRIAF, African air forces, PLAAF etc.

you can’t win them all – we are the “educated elite” demanding more obscure articles but the average jowe of a reader is after afganistan stuff.
persoanlly i’ld like a good f-14 vs f-18 but boeing seam to fund them by add to much }> }> }>

No, you are not selfish, ink. You’re just right. If I want to have a full detail report of life onboard carriers, I’ll rent Top Gun. Lately, AFM is not worth the price anymore. The magazine has moved from the living room to my toilet, at least I’ll read some of it that way. I read all of the carrier-articles, they are just all the same. MORE OBSCURE AIR FORCES,

RE: AFM is getting more politically inspired.
It’ll blow over – it was the same in ’99.
Anyway, a few more of those excellent AFM articles on obscure air forces wouldn’t go amiss. Or more stuff about Russian kit (or am I just being selfish }>)

“especially about Pakistan. Any reason?”
A reward for supporting america and turning their backs on the Taliban govt they helped put in power with US money?
Or maybe not.

RE: AFM is getting more politically inspired.
Well coming from an English magazine and considering England’s position behind the US it does not surprise me a whole lot. But one thing that does intrigue me about AFM are the number of articles on the Sub-continent, especially about Pakistan. Any reason?
