Was the Agni II recently tested to validate some components of the Agni III? There have been rumours that the Agni III is ready for testing and waiting for a govt nod. The Agni III is going to be the big one for India in the Asian context as it will be able to cover most parts of China and its later ranges will be even greater.

continue to be reported for further posts in the same vein.

AGAIN THE EXACT QUOTE FROM ATRE IS AS FOLLOWS
“Aatre said the Agni I and the Agni II are “absolutely-developed” missiles. “We have completely-developed systems for these two missiles and a certain number have been delivered to the army.”
I REST MY CASE
By: Sridhar - 2nd September 2004 at 16:51
The Agni-II is India’s most potent nuclear delivery vehicle, which, going by Aatre’s disclosure, is not operational.
what does this mean ?
Maybe your English is weak – I won’t comment on that. But let me help you in any case. There is no quote of Aatre there.
Let me make it simpler for you (I concede it may take some effort for you to understand stuff). Let us assume I take your statement above and make the following statement.
‘Going by Sumaid’s statement above, it is clear that he is an idiot’
Does this show that Sumaid’s statement is that he is an idiot? No. It only shows that this is my interpretation of his statement. You are making this kind of leap when you attribute what Vishal Thapar says to Aatre himself. Show a quote of Aatre (in quotation marks) that ‘Agni is not operational’. Then it can be conceded that he said something of that sort. Otherwise, it is Vishal Thapar’s interpretation and it must be treated as such. To repeat, your claim has been that ‘Aatre’ said that and it is untrue.
[Note: I am not calling Sumaid an idiot or making any claim in that regard since only he knows the full facts on that. The above statement is only by way of illustration]
By: Sumaid_Khan - 2nd September 2004 at 16:48
If you make a claim, the onus of proof is on you, not on others to prove it wrong.
Yet, I took your own claim that you yourself based on the Aug 31 HT report. And showed that you were lying, just based on that report. What further source is required? See page 5 of this thread (scroll to the bottom).
you did not answer my post above. tell me what does that sentence from the HT report mean. give me its meaning.
By: Sameer - 2nd September 2004 at 16:47
Troll stop repeating yourself over and over again
this is what atre said form my previous post
“Aatre said the Agni I and the Agni II are “absolutely-developed” missiles. “We have completely-developed systems for these two missiles and a certain number have been delivered to the army.”
So the same day Atre said that the misile was fully develpoped and handed over to the army and then it was not nuclear capable and not deployed? 🙂

Sumaid:
The paragraph that you are repeatedly quoting has no quote from Aatre himself. It is Vishal Thapar’s interpretation. So don’t make the claim that Aatre said it because he did not.
Secondly, your claim that the Aug 31 HT report said that the missile cannot carry nukes is an outright lie. Aatre did not say it and Vishal Thapar did not say anything of that sort either.

Funny- I am doing the same with you. Of course, trolls like you are not known for debating skills.
Hehe… I guess people is finally getting use
to the idea and understanding of what a Troll is, and that they
do turn AFM upsidedown every now and then…

Now you are taking the typical line that you and your friends have been doing on this thread. Stick to the facts and don’t babble. Show that you have not lied or nothing you say can be taken with any degree of seriousness.
New Delhi – The outgoing Chief of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), VK Aatre, confirmed on Tuesday in the Press Conference that six years after India entered the nuclear club with Pokhran-II, it is still not ready with its missile-based nuclear delivery systems.
Tell me , what does the above paragraph mean ?

Sept. 1 , Indian Observer : India’s nuclear delivery system on missiles not operational confirms DRDO boss Aatre.
By: nirav - 2nd September 2004 at 16:15
its really amusing to see….
just one neagtive report in the indian media about something, and the pakistanis on this forum start runnin here and there in glee….
“India isn’t capable of delivering nukes ! ” rejoice….
on a serious note…. since when did the pakistanis start taking whatever the indian media prints as the gospel truth ?
there is a newspaper called “SAMNA“
if whatever the indian media dishes out is true…
then “all the pakistanis are terrorists and their president is the numero uno….” because this paper and its cheif editor believe so….
also then the “arjun” must be capable of firing a nuclear weapon, coz a repoter on TV eported exactly that…. 😮
😀
so never mind if the AGNI-II isn’t operational…. the ” ARJUN ” will take of the nukes 😀

So still around6 months to go for it becomes operational
:p
That’s known as rubbing it in, Arshad… Shame on you! 😀
Agnis mentality: preoccupation – 3,000 miles due east –
not 200 or 300 miles to its north or its northwest. Therefore, neighbours in
close proximimities to her should not concern themselves.
Speculations: Are the ChiComs paying attention? I doubt
they even bother with it because their wary are people much larger —
and not those from the Kim Jong Il’s league or calaber!!!
My take: Aside from US & Russia, all else — child’s play.
:p

Some cheek it requires to say this. After being shown that you have lied at least twice on this very thread.
Yeah i know it will take time for u to digest this news. Hang in there.

“On his last day in office, he said the Sunday launch of the Agni-II intermediate-range ballistic missile was “to train the army” to fire the nuclear-capable weapon.”
I will be very basic with u, this is the only quote from Atre adn is the only thing he said about testing btw, the rest is interpretation
From the oher article
This is what Atre said btwhttp://www.telegraphindia.com/10409…ory_3702282.asp
Agni test checks nuke-war power
SUJAN DUTTA
New Delhi, Aug. 31: An Agni II missile test-fired on Sunday 100 days after the Manmohan Singh government took over was the first experiment by the army in a likely war scenario of the nuclear-weapon delivery system. The missile, which has a range of 2,000-plus km, was configured to fly 1,200 km with a “lofted approach”. The reduced range also probably means that it was fired with a heavier payload to simulate a nuclear warhead.
So far the Agni II had been test-fired by the Defence Research and Development Organisation either for technical corrections or as technology demonstrators. There have been nine test-firings of the Agni series.
The DRDO chief and scientific adviser to the defence minister, V.K. Aatre, said here today that the last test-firing on Sunday was done by the army under the guidance of DRDO scientists. The Agni II was in limited-series production and in the process of being inducted into the army. Test-fired with a “horizontal approach”, the missile is capable of longer ranges.
Aatre retired today. His place as the DRDO head will be taken by M. Natarajan, who headed the DRDO main battle tank programme.
Aatre admitted that there was a slippage in the programme for the long-range (3,000-plus km) Agni III strategic missile that is being prepared. “I would have liked to see it tested before I left. But now it is up to the next man to decide when it will be tested”, he said.
Aatre said the Agni I and the Agni II are “absolutely-developed” missiles. “We have completely-developed systems for these two missiles and a certain number have been delivered to the army.”
NOTICE TH LAST LINE 🙂
bye bye now
Yes…and i proivided u a article from hindustan times saying that the Nuclear delievry system of agni is NOT operational which has been confirmed by the DRDO boss Aatre.
The report was EXCLUSIVELY to state the above fact. .
Here is another from September 1 2004. Latest http://internationalreporter.net/scripts/headDetails.asp?id=274
No where does it mention in ur article that Agni’s nuclear delievry system is operational.
