The final New Zealand public display of Mosquito KA114 took place at Hood aerodrome, Masterton, over the weekend of 18th – 20th January.
As part of this display, many de Havilland designed aircraft were gathered into a lineup to represent the lineage of the Mosquito.
There were so many that I needed two photos to complete the coverage of the lineup.
See how many you can identify:

Answer, from left to right:
Be2
DH5
DH60G Moth
DH82a Tiger Moth
DH84 Dragon
DH83 Fox Moth
DHC1 Chipmunk
DHC2 Beaver
DH115 Vampire Trainer T.55
DH98 Mosquito FB Mk.26
Hidden behind the Mosquito, DH115 Vampire Mk.35A
Amazingly, all of the above bar one are original aircraft (only the DH5 is a replica) and all of them flew at the display.
I would say that this will be the DH event of the century.

I believe there’s an Otter somewhere around, too.
The Otter ZK-VAS is a dedicated floatplane, so that would be awkward.
However, a DH94 Moth Minor and a replica DH2 could have been added, but hey they did very well as it was.

No, a replacement one.
DH112 Venom Mk1 ex HB-RVA

Is the Venom the same one that got broken a year or so back?

We also have x2 DH89s and a DH90 but they did not appear. I believe there’s an Otter somewhere around, too.
It was a wonderful moment, and I was grinning like a madman.

The other de Havilland that was there was the DH 112 Venom which only flew in by day from Ohakea AFB and returned, just enough to share some air space with the two Vampires and the Mosquito occasionally for part of the 20mins each day. Plus the Venom was a part of a 6 jet air display and loop – the three privately owned Aero L-39 Albatros were there to form the lead in the formation – brilliant! The Venom did some individual high speed low passes as well! A great weekend.

Amazing!!! I’ve been looking jealously at all the stunning pictures being posted of it on Facebook in the past month or so, been in some beautiful formations too!

What a lovely line-up! Thanks for sharing, and it is great to see that NZ is blessed with such a variety of dH types.

Yes built for a US customer, BUT, plans are for it to pond hop in 2014 🙂
Really…..?
Has Jerry changed his mind during the last couple of months then..??
Marvellous gesture though from Jerry to allow the last surviving Dambusters pilot, 94 year old Les Munro, go up in her for a low level beat up of the airfield last Friday before it’s last airshow.

That’s a shame, is it a one way journey – built for a US customer?

Fantastic line-up and photos.
…
How come it will be the Mosquitos’ final show in NZ?
When it returns to Ardmore (Monday? Tuesday? I might be able to make it out to see it arrive) AvSpecs will start dis-assembly and packing for shipping to the USA.

Fantastic line-up and photos.
I can recognise most of the DH types there, but is the rotary engined type 2nd from left?
