Air Atlantique Hunter Scrapped??????

Rumours going around Coventy Airport are saying that Air Atlantique has scrapped Hunter GA.11 WT711. The aircraft had been sat at the back of the AA hanger in use as a gate guardian of sorts for many years now. Although saying that the last time I saw her a couple of years ago she looked in excellent condition.

Does anybody know if these rumours are true or completely unfounded???

However if it was a T7 that was up for grabs. That might be a diff story.

Thanks for the pics Flying Kiwi. Certainly is good to see the Hunter still in one peice. remember walking around her a few years ago at one of the Coventry Air Shows and she seemed to be in really good condition.

Would be good to see her go to a good home though. Just think the askin price will put a few of though.

Retro have WT711 as a Hunter F.4 – blasphemy.
She’s a GA.11, albeit she’s a Harley light, errrr light 🙂

Guess this has to be a RIP shot then, as the only time I saw her fly – 12th August 2000 at the superb 1950s Coventry Air Show

What happened to plans for AA to restore the Convair back to flying condition and let her earn her keep?

Just my opinion Albert, but I would guess that it was not cost effective in the end. By the time all the effort had been expended on repairing it, if a repair was possible, who knows what damage was done until it had been stripped down, would it then have been possible to recoup the outlay.
Probably cheaper to buy another one.
I wonder if he is still paying for it, the damage that is….. 😮
Cheers, Alan.

I think the Convair move is virtually 100%. Any photos of it where it is at present? At least it wasnt on ebay. I always seem to loose out at the last second there!!!

Yes Id heard that the Convair was going to a museum in Scotland. Again maybe thats a rumour not to be believed.

The Hunter is up on the Retro site as David Burke suggests for £9,000

It is waiting for a team to come and dismantle it, along with the Convair that is moving to pastures new, I cannot remember where but there are some interesting plans for it I believe.
Could be a coincidence but there was a lifting rig positioned by the Hunter on Sunday , so it might have been dismantled this week..
