Except the Dreamliner has now been repainted in normal colours. :(.

Find it incredible that Air Berlin can undercut the other low costs, offer complimentary service, and fly to the airport in the middle of the city! What a brilliant deal.

O poop!! 🙁

Should be a very nice full power take off too 😀

Agree with dan as easyjet use to have a base fare of £5.99 and then £7.99 on the Belfast route which meant £25 was easily obtainable.

EasyJet now have introduced a base fare of £15.99 on all London routes with few exceptions. This means your paying £45 or more for a return fare. Flybe is even cheaper at £39.98 return or £44 including baggage.

In terms of pricing from Belfast the best fares are:

1) bmibaby with £16 single incl tax obtainable to MAN and BHX
2) Jet2 with during sales £9.99 single incl tax to LBA
3) flybe with £39.98 return fares incl available on all their routes from Belfast as long as you book in enogh time or during a sale.
3) easyJet with £45 return incl tax
4) BA with £25 single incl tax
6) bmi with single fares to LHR £35-40 incl tax.

I am a bit worried about bmi going up furhter once the A321 go and the A319s are used on the route as it will be hard to get a seat on flights and then the because of “supply and demand” the prices will go up!

Last week (I was looking at cheap fares to Belfast a few days ago, for the Summer), the cheapest fare I could find was about £45 on EZY. This seems pretty high, for an airline with no service, and one that flies into BFS which is miles out of the city. Last year, you could get EZY tickets to BFS for about £30. Other fares were over £50 on Bmi, or around the same on Flybe.

Air Berlin have now come in with a £38 fare, cheaper than EZY. Not to mention that Air Berlin have a complimentary service, and fly practically into the city centre!

AFAIK all the UK flights are operated by German crews and they don’t base any aircraft in the UK. This may now be out of date though?

The crew i got on the MAN-STN-MAN flights were German 🙂

Why the surprise? – makes much more sense from BHD – had they opted for BFS they would have been competing directly with Easyjet!

Thats what i’m saying. As a loco, AB would usually aim for cheaper airports!
But i have to say, since flying them in January, i’m pleased to say theyr are the best loco i’ve been on!

:PLUS: Does anybody know why EZY have been getting dearer??

I’m sure Bono et al can afford to travel in a slightly more glamourous fashion than FR anyway 😀

Sorry, couldn’t resist. :diablo:

Would this route be an extension of an inbound German originating flight with German crew, or do Air Berlin have UK based crew’s as well now?

Anyone know???

Sweet! That will make getting to Belfast much easier/cheaper when I have to be there a couple of times each year…esecially when BFS is miles from Andrewm’s house, and EZY’s prices have constantly been creeping up lately.
