Air Canada said the Ontario Superior Court last week approved an agreement reached March 12 between AC and Airbus providing for the purchase of two ultra-long-range A340-500s and their financing. The settlement also includes the cancellation of two A321 deliveries and the deferred delivery to 2010 of three A340-600s with unilateral cancellation rights in favor of AC, the airline said.

A Canadian bankruptcy court judge has extended Air Canada’s protection from creditors until April 15.
The insolvent airline had said last week it would seek an extension to April 30, but on Monday Air Canada requested only that Ontario Superior Court Justice James Farley continue its protection until the middle of the month.

Do the Air Canada A345s have PTVs in economy?

Air Canada yesterday said it has lined up financing for its “entire” order of regional jets from Bombardier Inc. — but refused to confirm whether it is still interested in all 45 jets it ordered three months ago.

One aircraft was, at the time of the news release a few days ago, already in TLS with pilots from airlines like SQ and EK training on it. Over the past weeks the training frequency died down but it remainded there. The second aircraft was as you said in Chateauroux without engines. The engines have now been reinstalled, or will soon be reinstalled, and it will return to TLS for any work that needs to be done.
As far as the 340s at Mojave, I was not aware of it. From what I thought there were 762s and 744s but of course of might be wrong.

Chateauroux is really a dump, isn’t it? There’s a half 747 corsair (it’s half because of the many parts removed), and I also saw a few african 747’s or so, couldn’t see the title. There was (is still?) an a343 of sn stored there and an iberia 727. ever been there hand?

I have seen a couple at Mojave

A 744/343 can practically do SYD-YVR (it would be just a little further than SYD-SFO which the 744 currently does). I don’t know what the distance is between SYD and YYZ, but I wouldn’t say “absolutely not” unless you had some figures and data to back this up, Dartie. How much further can it be than SIN-LAX or DXB-SYD?

VERY good news!!!!
Some useful information:
Possible routes are- YYZ-DEL YYZ-JNB YYZ-HKG YYZ-NRT YVR-SYD
(All non-stop)
Configuaration- 42J 225Y (might change b/c the YYZ-DEL route is
mainly Y passengers, maybe
something like 30J 237Y *not official*)
Notes: As we know the 343 is at the time being used on the YYZ-
DEL route, but it has to make stops in places like ARN
often. The 345 gives AC the ability to operate full loads
and cargo on the route while still operating non-stop.
Deliveries are scheduled with first a/c in May and the
second in June *sorry no offical dates*
Currently the ACPA is negotiating terms with the AC pilot
union on terms of crew size for the ULH flights. The pilot
union wants 2 Captains and 2 F/Os on each flight but it is
understood that AC wants 1 Captain, 2 F/Os, and 1 relief
Pilot. No ULH operations will be carried out until this issue
is resolved.
From memory I also belive AC has to install proper crew
rest areas aswell before ULH flights begin.
Hope this helps-

Did Airbus take them to court?

Have they done the refinancing deal with that investor chap yet ? I thought I read last week that he may be backing out, putting the airline in the severe sh*t !
