Yesterday evening a Fairchild Metroliner owned by AirWorks exploded in mid-air. It had been carrying mail for NZ Post. The 2 crew members perished.
The cause is not known yet but both of the black boxes were recovered and have been sent to Australia for analysis.
This particular aircraft had been involved with Life Flight (which transports sick patients) at one stage.
R.I.P. to the crew members and condolences to the families 🙁
