On a marque-specific vintage car forum I belong to someone posted this postcard.
It shows a Bristol Freighter Mk 32…of (I believe) Air Charter.
Can anyone give the location or other details?

Interesting aircraft! The wealth of info on this forum always amazes me.
I had never seen an “air ferry” before. Certainly no drive on and drive off in the same direction!
I grew up watching the Bristol Freighters and Superfreighters of Silver City at Eastleigh in the 50s.
When there was space to spare they would come back loaded with fresh vegetables (in crates ) instead of cars.

The bowser driver and ramp staff appear to be wearing berets – which would seem to indicate its on the continental side of the channel anyway?
(Dont think they are flat caps).

The refueling unit is a Thompson Bros mk V built in quantity during WW2.

But that bowser isn’t left hand drive is it? :diablo:
Sorry to be “picky” but I don’t think the bowser is right hand drive either. My recollection is that, that model of bowser was neither: the driving position was in the centre of the vehicle.
Planemike………….

The lead car is a 1952 Studebaker Coupe. I didn’t know what the small green car is but it certainly looks Renault-ish.
The green car is a RNUR 4 CV (Régie Nationale des Usines Renault)

I think the cars are A Renault Fregate and a 750, so I could be the French end of the air bridge. Deauville?

Eupopean-market Studebakers were assembled in Belgium, and not many were in the UK, so your guess about it being in France is possible.
