One of the VC-25’s will be used to transport Reagan’s body to Washington on Wednesday, and will be using the call-sign “Air Force 1” even though GWB will not be on board, I believe.

What is RAM and what are you pointing to on the #3 engine?
By: Saleem Y Hatoum - 7th June 2004 at 02:58
I misunderstood ABC news than about the 9/11 but I certain about the silver lining and engine matters of RAM.

The silver portion of the fuselage has always been there and isn’t a post-9/11 addition.
Look through a.net and you’ll the silver lining on pre-9/11 pictures of the VC-25A’s.
This one was taken in 1998:

The silver lining on the fuselage is not for design. This appeared right after 9/11. As you can see on these excellent shots that the silver lining on the fuselage is very similar to the exhaust of the engines. This is some type of RAM which is used on the aircraft and to add more check closely the exhaust of the engine number 3, see that filter type thing, this is new also. I got all this information from ABC news man Sam Donaldson who recently indicated all these new gadgets on Air force 1.

Look at the flaps, they are always full of oil but they are obviously cleaned up every time! Are they still looking at the A380 as a replacement? Are all 747’s and 757’s in a luxurious configuration?
Regarding missile threats, there is absolutely nothing that could defend the plane.
Sorry, but those flaps shine…
A380 ? For the US president ? Are you kidding ? 😀
The VC-25 are, and if you have 2, it is because one is used as “backup” or as decoy… Imagine someone would wanna shoot… Which one ?
As for protection, ever heard of DIRCM ? (Directionnal Infra Red CounterMeasures)
It is some sort of laser turred. + jammers + chaffs and flares, and you’ll avoid lots of misssiles.

Air Force One is the callsign for any Air Force aircraft that is carrying the president. Air Force Two is the callsign for any Air Force aircraft that is carrying the Vice President.
If neither the Pres. or VP is on the aircaft they go by their normal callsign. I believe for the VC-25A’s the callsign is “SAM 29000” or “SAM 28000.”

The US Air Force do have a lot of aircraft you know, 757’s 747’s 737’s and a few more….
yeah, but to send out 3x 747 and 2x 757 for the visit of one man and his entourage, that’s quite… impressive.

Yes, the bump on the nose is an air refuelling probe, and regarding missile threats, be sure there are countermeasure systems on that plane.

ORly is quite easy to access . There are roads at each end of the runways.
By: MEA380 - 5th June 2004 at 18:07
very nice, I wondered how you got that close to the aircraft?
