Air France crash August 2005

I was in Toronto yesterday and while I drove passed Pearson International, I tried to see if I could see any remaining marks from last year’s Air France crash. The only evidence of a crash I noticed were the wheel tracks left by the aircraft after it ran off the runway. This lead me to wonder if there was anything new on the investigation, or even if the two pilots have returned to flight status pending the results of said investigation. Cheers, Irwan

I agree that it may be a little strange, but I don’t think European governments have taken drastic measures like the US has. The US has always been a little paranoid and they have taken it to a whole new level in the aftermath of 9/11. How many times have jets been hijacked worldwide and yet, flight crews still allow passengers to visit the cockpit? As far as there being a passenger in the cockpit at the time of landing, I don’t believe this would have had anything to do with what may have happened. Although, he could end up being a great witness in what may have actually transpired in the cockpit during the last few minutes of the doomed flight.

Interesting that they had an unauthorized non-employee on the jumpseat for the whole flight. Oops.

Especially in light of 9/11
