Most pics you see of AF aircrafts, they are so dirty. It looks like AF hasent cleaned there a/c in months. Agreed they have a all white scheme but still being a big and profitable airline they should keep there aircrafts clean. I noticed all this during my visit to CDG last year, never seen such dirty planes, specially the B747-200s. They are even dirtier than USAir B737s.

I really like the plain white colour scheme. My fav has to be SAA the plain white aircraft with the bright colouful tail. Mind you that may be changing as when I was in Joburg in January in the model aircraft shop the guy in there should me a picture of 3 different colour schems that they are going to choose one from.

RE: Air France-The dirty mom!
I agree that the AF scheme is very boring, and their planes are dirty about 98% of the time, but the one type in their fleet that just looks beautiful, is the 777. I remember I saw one at IAD 4 years ago like a month after they had taken delivery of it, and I just loved it. Maybe because I was used to always seeing their 747’s at LAX. Shortly thereafter, they started seding the 777 to LAX as well, on the first of their 2 daily flights. I don’t know what it is about the 777, that makes it look so good in that boring scheme. Not all Euro-white schemes are boring, however. I quite enjoy Lufthansa’s and JAL’s. Must be the titling and the grey engine cowlings.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 17-06-02 AT 04:36 PM (GMT)]I think AF spends very little amount in its paint scheme(well you can call it a scheme). Painting an a/c white is the cheapest, over that AF just has to adds a few stripes on the tail. But its a very good cost saving measure. The main cost that AF must be facing in painting its a/c is the labour and standing fee at the paintshop….thats it!

Yep , everyone agrees that AF color scheme is a pity .
However , we discussed about the worst liveries on last week.
I still winder if those almost ‘all white” liveries aren’t a bit cheaper than colorful ones.
Does anyone has any idea about the cost of an A/C new painting ?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 16-06-02 AT 10:06 AM (GMT)]Someone needs to add the words ‘Clean me’ on the dirty aircraft, that would be funny!

Look at it another way guys, at least the dirt adds some interest to an otherwise boring colour scheme!}>

RE: Air France-The dirty mom!
Its not a very good image for the airline, people expect high standards of a European national airline.Though Air France are a good airline, seeing a dirty aircraft will (has?) really give Air France a bad reputation.AF definatley need to get their aircraft cleaned more often!

RE: Air France-The dirty mom!
look closely at JAL i flew on there 100th 747 last month to narita from frankfurt,it needed more than a good wash on the outside,it needed a paint job to,ANA are the most clean body i have seen.

RE: Air France-The dirty mom!
Kabir, you are absolutely correct, and I notice the same thing about AirFrance. JAL has a white scheme, and you never see their aircraft dirty. Lufthansa’s planes are clean about 95% of the time, and I’ve flown through Frankfurt witnessing this, as well.
