Air France – What are they like??

I am due to fly to Paris with Air France this year, I have never flown with them before. Are they good to fly with?

Jetlag, BA manage a full cooked breakfast on LHR GLA, a 50 minute sector.
James, as I said, I was on a flight at a similar time and wasn’t served anything, bar a a cup of luke warm coffee. And I hadn’t the previous night on the transatlantic flight.
Hey, who cares?

RE: Air France – What are they like??

I flew Air France last month: heathrow to CDG. Flight lasted about 45 mins, on an A320. There were about 6 cabin crew on board and the plane wasn’t even half full so most of them were redundent. I thought the 320 was about the size of a b737 and they only have 3 cabin crew, am i mistaken?
Anyway, the flight was at 8.45pm so i was expecting breakfast! all i got was a very small danish pastry. However all the crew were exceptionally friendly, more so than others, but the aircraft interior looked in need of an overhaul. It didnt come close to the smartness and neatness of even Easyjet!!
Anyway the flight was fine.
Best feature: friendly cabin crew!!!

None of those aircraft mentioned above are particularly old, but it sounds like they need a refit if they are dirty and worn inside.

Yes I saw. If you travel with Air France in Istanbul-Paris route you can face A320 that very old and dirty. If you travel in Paris-Cincinnati route you can face Boeing 767-300 that very old. Food and services were good but aircrafts were very old.

C´est fantastic. Nice and clean planes, smart crews and stylish inflight service (with plenty of pates, french cheese and Wine).
Great.

RE: Air France – What are they like??

I’m surprised you found old planes. I think there only elder planes (apart from Concorde) are classic 747’s, and second generation 737’s.
They also operate A340’s, 747-400, 777-200’s and 767-300’s long haul, and A319/320/321’s on shorthaul.
They have orders for 777-300ER’s, A380’s, A330’s and A318’s.
So I suspect that they will soon have a very young fleet.

I flew with Airfrance in 2000. I saw two kinds of plane, both of them were pretty old. I wish they won’t face another accident.

RE: Air France – What are they like??

I travelled Zurich-Paris CDG-Toronto return in economy with them last easter, and I wasn’t impressed.

I was travelling as a member of a group of Rugby players, and we weren’t particularly chuffed when the flight ran out of alcohol half way across the Atlantic. But that’s beside the point.

The IFE was pretty poor, and meals kind of small. Coffee was instant stuff, and luke warm at that.

Maybe I just got a bad day for that, maybe the crew were stressed by the amount of alcohol we were consuming (but we certainly were NOT unruly, in fact we spent a lot of time chatting to them, They’re not bad…) And, admittedly, they were about to introduce seat back screens on the A340 we travelled on. Maybe this would have made a difference to my opinion. But their Radio Stations are just one hour loops, which gets a bit repetitve. Films were pretty old, too, as I recall.

Were are you travelling from? long haul or short haul? The 737’s we were on on the ZRH CDG sectors were ok, but considering they were international flights, admittedly only 50 minute sectors, I felt the cup of lukewarm instant coffee and small croissant were a bit miserly.

Anyway, enjoy your trip, and tell us what you thought of them.
